Spain will establish a regulatory framework for online gambling soon. By January 1st, 2025, the country will complete the procedures required to regulate online gambling. The online gambling licensing decrees and technological requirements have been recently approved by the Spanish Cabinet.
AEDAPI Happy with Steps Taken in Spain to Regulate Online Gambling
AEDAPI, a trade association of Spain, expressed its happiness at the significant step taken by the Spanish Commission in favor of regulating online gambling. Operators can now start applying for licenses in Spain. However, the trade association also expressed the need for caution due to the high tax rates imposed on online gambling.
Regulators will have to pay 25% tax on their net profit. This will make the Spanish online gambling market less attractive for businesses. Certain forms of gambling have also been excluded from the market. AEDAPI stated that there is a lot of scope to improve the gambling laws and make the market in Spain a profitable one.
Operators of Online Gambling Trying Hard to Meet the January 1st, 2025 Deadline
Spanish online gambling operators are working hard to meet the deadline set by the government to regulate online gambling. Rank plc is one of the first few companies to announce its plans of entering the online gambling market in Spain. The group declared that it is going to launch an online gambling website in Spain called enRacha in 2025. Through the website, Rank plc will offer a wide variety of casino games like online roulette, card games, skill games, online slots and poker games.
Ladbrokes to Enter Online Gambling Markets in Denmark and Spain
A betting company in the United Kingdom, Ladbrokes, announced its plans to enter the online gambling markets of Spain and Denmark. Through a deal signed with the Isle of Man based Microgaming, Ladbrokes will offer the software provider's online gambling products to Danish and Spanish customers. The website of Ladbrokes for the Spanish online gambling market, LBApuestas, will be released soon. As soon as the company receives its Spanish online gambling license in January 2025, LBApuestas will offer a wide variety casino games from the Flash and download platforms of Microgaming.
Ladbrokes also plans to offer the highly reputed poker software of Microgaming. This will allow players in Denmark and Spain to access a wide range of games and tournament that the software provider offers.
Adam Greenblatt Expresses Satisfaction over Ladbrokes' Deal with Microgaming
The director of strategic development and corporate of Ladbrokes, Adam Greenblatt stated that his company has always had a good relationship with Microgaming. Ladbrokes' customers have always been satisfied with Microgaming's products and Ladbrokes is extremely happy to have partnered with the software provider. Ladbrokes will target new licenses in the markets it is quite familiar with, like Denmark and Spain.
The business development head of Microgaming confirmed that once Ladbrokes gets a license, the company will be able to offer the most competitive online gambling products through its partnership deal with Microgaming.
